Pulan's Full-Auto Panel Air Filter Paper Pleating Production Line is engineered for the continuous pleating and hot melt gluing of filter media used in automotive PU panel air filters. The production line combines paper feeding, steam humidification, pleating, adhesive application, automatic counting, and product conveying into a single integrated system, eliminating the need for multiple standalone machines. It accommodates filter media widths from 90–350mm, pleat heights of 16–70mm, and operates at an adjustable production speed of 5–30m/min. Precision embossing rollers ensure uniform pleats with smooth, consistent end faces.
What is a Full-Auto Panel Air Filter Paper Pleating Production Line?
The Full-Auto Panel Air Filter Paper Pleating Production Line is a fully automatic manufacturing system developed for producing pleated filter media for automotive PU air filters. It consists of a paper unwinding stand, steam humidification unit, pleating machine, hot melt gluing system, automatic counter, discharge conveyor, and PLC control system.
During production, the filter media first passes through the steam unit to improve flexibility before entering the embossing rollers, where crease lines are accurately formed. Hot melt adhesive is then applied through precision glue nozzles, after which the media is folded by the pleating rollers. Finally, the pleated filter paper is dried, stabilized with airflow, and conveyed to the next production stage. The entire process ensures stable pleat geometry and consistent product quality during continuous mass production.
Product Advantages
Integrated Pleating and Gluing: Embossing, adhesive application, and pleating are completed on one production line, improving production efficiency and reducing handling between processes.
Steam Humidification for Better Paper Protection: Moisture improves filter paper flexibility, reducing the risk of damage during embossing.
Precision Roller Embossing: Accurately machined rollers produce consistent crease spacing and uniform pleat geometry.
Controlled Hot Melt Adhesive Application: The adjustable gluing system accommodates different adhesive types and application volumes.
Built-in Production Counter: Automatically records production output for easier manufacturing management.
Flexible Operating Parameters: Production speed is continuously adjustable from 5–30m/min, while heating temperature can be set between 0–300°C to suit different filter materials.
Adjustable Discharge Conveyor: Conveyor speed can be matched with downstream production equipment for smooth line integration.
User-Friendly Operation: The touchscreen allows operators to easily adjust production speed, temperature, and operating parameters, while routine maintenance mainly involves regular lubrication of transmission components.
System Configuration & Applications
Typical Applications
Pleating and hot melt gluing of automotive PU panel air filter media
Continuous production of pleated filter elements
High-volume manufacturing of automotive air filter components
Main Components
Paper Unwinding Stand: Holds the filter media roll with a paper shaft and centering cones.
Steam Humidification Unit: Moistens the filter media to improve flexibility during pleating.
Pleating Machine: Equipped with upper and lower embossing rollers, variable-frequency speed control, and photoelectric monitoring.
Hot Melt Gluing System: 8.5kW heating unit with adjustable glue nozzles.
Automatic Counter: Records production quantity automatically.
Discharge Conveyor: Transfers finished products with adjustable conveying speed.
Control System: PLC with bilingual touchscreen, frequency inverter, and emergency stop switch.
Production Process
The production line performs pleating and adhesive application in one continuous operation. After humidification, the filter media passes through the embossing rollers to create uniform crease lines. Hot melt adhesive is then applied before the media enters the pleating rollers, where the final pleat shape is formed. Airflow from the drying fan helps stabilize the pleats before the finished material is discharged by the conveyor.
Operating Procedure
Material Loading: Install the filter media roll onto the unwinding shaft and secure it with the centering cones.
Paper Feeding: Guide the filter media through the steam humidification unit and into the roller section.
Embossing: The upper and lower rollers create precise crease lines while production speed is controlled by the frequency inverter.
Glue Application: The filter media passes through the glue nozzles for hot melt adhesive application.
Pleating: The collecting rollers fold the media into the required pleat profile.
Drying & Shaping: Airflow helps the adhesive cure while maintaining uniform pleat geometry.
Finished Product Output: The conveyor delivers the completed filter media for the next production process.

Installation Guidelines
Install the production line on a flat, clean, and well-ventilated floor away from excessive heat and dust.
Maintain a minimum clearance of 1 meter on both sides and 1.5 meters at the front and rear.
Keep a spacing of 0.8–1.2 meters between each machine section while maintaining the same centerline.
Transport each unit with a forklift of at least 1-ton capacity, then level and secure the equipment.
Connect the machine to a dedicated 380V / 50Hz power supply with proper grounding.
Provide a stable compressed air supply of 0.6MPa.
Before startup, inspect the power cables, emergency stop switch, and safety guard doors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Why does the embossing position shift during operation?
A: Misalignment is usually caused by the upper and lower embossing rollers not being parallel. If the paper drifts to the left, rotate the right adjustment bolt clockwise (or the left bolt counterclockwise) to lower the right side of the upper roller. Reverse the adjustment if the paper drifts to the right.
Q2: What causes uneven pleat formation?
A: First, check whether the embossing rollers are producing uniform crease lines. If the embossing is correct, adjust the clearance between the upper and lower pleating rollers using the adjustment handwheel or adjusting nut until the gap is even.
Q3: Why do the pleats separate after gluing?
A: This is generally caused by either insufficient adhesive application or excessive airflow that cures the adhesive too quickly. Increase the glue volume or reduce the fan airflow accordingly.
Q4: What should I do if the paper does not feed properly or the machine fails to stop automatically?
A: Check whether the photoelectric sensor is blocked or damaged. Replace the sensor or its control board if necessary. If the problem remains, inspect the transmission system for mechanical faults.
