The implicit impact of the wave bending process on the accuracy of the filter element

In filter manufacturing, the Full-Auto Knife Paper Pleating Production Line is responsible for converting flat filter materials into folding structures. Many people believe that wave bending is only physically formed and does not affect filtering performance, but in fact, the opposite is true.

The wave bending machine needs to control three indicators: consistency of bending height, stability of bending distance, and roundness of bending angle. If the deviation of the folding height exceeds ± 0.5mm, the filter element will be locally compacted or suspended after being installed in the shell, resulting in a loss of 10% to 20% of the effective filtering area. Unstable folding distance can easily cause adjacent folding layers to stick together, increasing flow resistance.

More easily overlooked is the fiber damage at the crease. A sharp folding knife will cut through the surface fibers of the filter material, allowing large particles to penetrate directly. The solution is to use a hot press bending machine, which heats the fibers moderately while bending, allowing them to heat set instead of mechanically breaking.

Regularly checking the folded contour with a projector and conducting bubble point testing to verify integrity can effectively avoid degradation of filter performance caused by the folding process.
